James (Jim) Kelly is an innovative leader in supply chain management. With more than 30 years of experience in sourcing and procurement, Mr. Kelly has been successful using metrics to increase purchasing performance; process reengineering; change management; contract negotiation and supplier management. Through Mr. Kelly’s leadership, JVKellyGroup has become a leading professional services firm specializing in developing and implementing innovative spend management solutions for its expansive list of Fortune 500 clients. The tagline for JVKellyGroup is “Results through Applied Intelligence”. This is based on the premise that decisions should be data driven and need to rely not only upon internal sources but also external sources. Jim founded the firm with the belief that the best results for expense management starts with strong analytics and implemented though a solid change management program.
Before founding JVKellyGroup in 2002, Mr. Kelly was Managing Director of Global Purchasing Operations and eSourcing for Deutsche Bank. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Mr. Kelly was a Team Leader in Sourcing and Strategic Relations at Deloitte and Touche Consulting Group and the Vice President of US Purchasing Operations at Citibank.
A recognized thought leader, Mr. Kelly is a featured speaker for organizations and events such as the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) National Conference, ISM Affiliate meetings, NESCON, ProcureCon, the Conference Board and the CFO Summit. From 2006 to 2008, Jim hosted Business Talk Radio’s Kelly’s Corner on Radio 540AM. The show featured business, community and political leaders and discussed important business issues of the day. Today, Jim can be seen on FIOS ONE news program Money and Main Street and one of the “Ask the Experts” panelists.
Jim is a former President of the ISM - New York (formerly NAPM-NY) and currently sits on the Board of Directors for ISM‘s Supply Chain Risk Management Group. He is sought after to lecture on how to control Risk within the sourcing process and within the supply chain. In 2008, Mr. Kelly received the J.H. Leonard Award from NAPM-NY for significant efforts on behalf of the purchasing profession and for contributions to the growth, development, and professional stature of the association. Additionally, Mr. Kelly was named one of Supply and Demand Chain Executive magazine’s Pros to Know in 2007, 2008 and 2009, 2010 and 2011. His firm, JVKellyGroup, was named one of the top 100 companies in this space by the same magazine in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Mr. Kelly is very active in his community of Huntington, NY. His commitment led him to be elected the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce in 2005, where he served for four years. As a result of his work in rebuilding the financial stability of the Chamber, Mr. Kelly was named one of Long Island’s Top 50 most influential people in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In 2009, Mr. Kelly was appointed to the Advisory Board for the School of Business for Adelphi University where he will assist the school in generating ideas for Adelphi’s curricular and co-curricular development, internships and research partnerships for the students. Additionally, Mr. Kelly was named to the Board of Directors for the Huntington Arts Council and the Board of Advisors for the International Institute for Advanced Purchasing & Supply (IIAPS).
